My uncle has a 2001 gt and just recently it started to knock. it doesnt sound bad but it doesnt sound good eather.the knock is coming from inside the motor. has any body else had this problem with the 4.6L? oh yeah the motor only has like 60,xxx miles.

 

We're going to need more information before any suggestions are made.
When does it knock?
Idle.
Accelerating.
At cruise rpm.
If it's something that can be duplicated in your driveway you can use a long wooden dowel or screwdriver as a stethoscope to figure out where the sound is coming from.Put one end on the suspected origination point and the other end on your ear.

 

it knocks at idle, and at acceleration, and while cruiseing. but gets worse past 3000 rpm. it sounds like something in the motor is tapping. not sure exactly where it is comming from, but it sounds like it is coming from the drivers side but thats about all we know. A mechanic told him that the pi heads werent that good because they dont last that long, and that might be his problem. that is why we are trying to see if any body else has had the same problem. any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

 

^ what he said, Mine does a little on start up but has alwase done it.

 

does it do it only on start up and go away?

It did it only on starts but I just installed these and I didn't hear it today.

I changed the plugs at the time I did this as well. for my car there the Autolite 764's and gaped them to 035
