Hey all-
What is the difference between shorty and lond tube headers? Besides for their size I mean. Which one gives more power, and which one gives better sound??

I was told that Long Tubes are better, but should only be used if you have or plan to do a lot of modding to your engine. If you engine is going to stay mostly stock then go for the short tube headers.

The Shortys give a supposed 5-6rwhp from what I have read and long tubes are way better which puts mid lengths in between. I would assume the long tubes sound pretty mean too. I know very little about headers and have not bought any yet either =(

tatoos' right, long tubes are probably better for a hotter motor, there used when more flow is needed (big heads,cam,intake). shortys are good too, in general they probably give you better low end power and long tubes will help generate power for high horsepowered, high reving cars.

will long tube are good for a 450+ engine that isn't lowered..I use equal lengths on my 550hp car..no regets...coarse a mid length with a bigger primary can out flow the long tube

Shorties are barely an improvement over factory manifolds. The only headers worth any kind of money are mid-lengths or longs.

longtubes are better all around just think about it more airflow=horsepower
i think shorties are just like manifolds dont waste your time on them
