Lazar and Radar detector?
Can any1 recommend a good radar and lazar detector? I was looking at the escort 8500, mainly becuase i can pick 1 up for about 150 bucks with my discount. I have heard many reviews on the valentine pro v 1 in comparrsions 2 the 8500's and everyone seams to say that theres is the best. There is no clear cut answer.

RE: Lazar and Radar detector?
I have a V1.The directional arrows as well as the signal counter has saved me from several tickets. These valuable features allow you to know when you can disregard a false signal and when a suspected false signal is a real radar unit hiding in the electronic shadow of a door opener. The V1 is also upgradeable when new software becomes available.Their customer service is top notch also.
I would buy another V1 in a second.

For that price I would definitely buy the 8500. I have the V1 because it can be upgraded, and also it will work with european radar, since i might be moving to Italy. Either or, they are the best with Bell in third. I will tell you this. Watch your speed. In PA, the local cops can't use radar, only vascar. I have also seen state police on highways using vascar. That being said, any detector is useless. Laser is a bitch too. Once I was driving on I 78 in Jersey going about 95 when I saw the NJ highway patrol. I slammed on the brakes hard enough that my wife flew forward against the dash. A split second after I slammed on the brakes, the radar went bizerk with the laser. I think the only reason he didn't pull me over was he noticed I had a detector and I believe I read they have to use some form of radar in conjunction with the laser(I think in PA, not sure where else). Anyway, what Im trying to say is... Keep your eyes open and be ready to slam on the brakes because they dont work as good as you think they would, cops are very tricky. Good luck
