Default convertible problem

Hey, i cant seem to get my convertible top down on my 94 mustang. I unpluged the motor and hooked up a gauge to the power and hit the switch and nothing happened. So it seems as if the motor is not getting any power. Could it be a bad convertible switch?? or are there fuses along the way?? Any suggestion would help. Thanks

Not sure about the 94, but I figure it's going to be close to the '96....

In the 96 there are two relays, one for lowering and one for rasing the top. Both are located behind the rear seat on the LH side of the motor.

Dunno for sure. Probably a dealership. I'm sure deal would carry them, but try a parts store or a junkyard if they're outrageous.

Best thing to do would be to try testing the voltage coming out of the motor side of the relay and into the relay from the switch to determine if that is your problem. Or if only one of them is bad perhaps.

I just realized there is a circuit breaker for the conv top vs. a fuse. Should still be in the cabin fuse box, but don' t know that I would have checked a circuit breaker. Might wanna double check that bad boy. There is also a fuse for the convertible top switch...it's in the engine compartment. Dunno why those didn't show up in my last search. Sorry about that.

Have you did all the trouble shooting? most cases the switch is fine, the motor could be gone bad, I had power windows on my 84 cougar I was getting pissed why it wasnt working, then found out the window motor was fried, Basically I would just run a multi meter test on the top motor and the switch, thats the best bet.
