Default Auto shutoff

I thought there would be a post for this but searches didnt turn up anything

Im pretty sure there is a shutoff chip in my car i just dont want to find out the hard way. its a 2001 v6 and if there is i was wondering what speed it shuts off at and is there a way to bypass it?

There's a point where the fuel cuts off (somewhere around 135 i think?) It's programmed into the computer, you need a hand-held tuner or a chip to change it.


Edit: fuel cutoff just means it will stop the injectors from firing until you drop below that speed again, basically like a rev-limiter

You need a tuner to bypass it. I don't reccomend it, though. Your factory tires are only rated to 135mph, and going fast isn't fun, it's dangerous... acceleration is the best.

I dont need to reprogram if the shutoff is 135 i thought it was around 100 but we are talking about a v6 not a GT right? Also i have aftermarket tires that the previous owner put on, I can just go to the good year site and check out the rating right?

It's 125 or 135, around there, for a V6 I'm fairly sure. The GT's are limited to 150+ because they came with Z-rated tires. Just check with the manufacturer of your tires for their speed rating.
