many people have had problems with the dome light staying on, most of them just take out the dome light bulb, I think a sensor or something is messed up, this issue has been brought up many times, i dont like telling people to search but it might help you out

I actually have the answer to this troubling issue.
FORDs have a real problem with their door switches. Many FORD's dome lights stay on for no apparent reason...but if you simply spray WD-40 on both door switches and cycle them many dozen times quickly, this should cure the problem. If not, you can find a used switch (or spend the cash for a new one) and try that.
Typically a problem on the Taur(i?) and the Explor/Exped/Excurs...first I have heard of this on a stang, but hey!!!
Good luck.

Yes, this will fix your problem.... I had a 97 SHO that had that problem with the lights staying on.. A couple shots of the good ol WD-40 on all the door latches and never ran into the problem again.
