Default Pypes reviews???

Even though I saw Pype's prices go up before my eyes in an hour ($499 to $519) They still seem to have a good product at great prices.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with either their X-pipe, or more specifically, the X-pipe w/ their catback system? Sound? Performance? I've seen the dynos, they look pretty good.

I'd like to hear some opinions before I drop $500. And yes, I need the catted X (damn parents).

Thanks alot guys,

Sam

The "X" pipe will give you a bit of added HP. Did you look at Dr. Gas to see what kind of pricing they have? It will also change the tone of your exhaust to a little higher pitch. I run the Dr.Gas "X" and the Spintechs' mufflers.

Magnaflows are cheaper than that and are dyno-proven. Check www.ninosport.com and get them to e-mail you a price on a catted X and catback. Thats what I have and it cost $760 for the 2, free shipping.

This is $500 for the whole thing, catback and X-pipe.... cheaper than the magnas. Dr. Gas is more expensive too. I may do the pypes X pipe and magnas. I'll make my decision on Monday.

Thanks.

What is wrong with the Pypes crossover ? It is a true "X" unlike Bassani and BBK .

True X crossover is like Magnaflow, not 2 bent tubes with a cutout and a weld like BBK and Pypes.

I know this is outdated but someone else might stumble upon this also.

Everyone has their opinion about what is a 'true' X. The fact is, there exists several different designs to equalize engine exhaust pulses. Despite the simplicity of X pipe designs such as Pypes and Dr Gas, they work! In all our dyno tests the open chamber design like MagnaFlow and Basani did NOT do any better and in some cases hp increases were less. I would not be surprised that the stamped chamber design was done as cost saving measure for high volume companies rather than for it's hp generating design. It is much less manual labor to weld two nicely stamped halves together than it is to shave sections out of pipe and carefully match them before welding the two together and then welding reinforcement plates.
