Default Shortblock unassembled

I'm kind of stuck on the crankshaft....I can't find the crank I'd like to have. I'm not going HiPro, but mildly. I'd like to increase particularly, the bottom end grunt, this is a 302 fron the late '60s or early '70s. I guess I can go with a stock crankshaft and have it ballanced, but I wanted to get a counter-ballanced crank, but they're only availible for "stroker" cranks. I don't want high compression. Maybe it's not worth the money I'd spend, but my reason being, if a ballance the crank, make all the rods and pistons the same weight and put in stiffer valve springs....and maybe even roller rockers ($$ I know), the engine'll really last a long time and be strong.

Maybe I'm barkin' up the wrong tree, but hell, I've already decided I'll spend the extra cash on that....comments, thoughts on what I'm after?

Thanks!!

your motor sounds like it will last a long time either way, and for the price of the new internals you want to buy you may be able to rebuild it again if it doesn't. You can still get your rotating assembly balanced with a 28oz balancer and flywheel and since you aren't trying to make a load of power and your compression will be fairly low, I say it will still run like silk for a very long time. beefing it up on the bottom doesn't really sound necessary. if I were building that motor i wouldn't waste money of all new internals. good luck

Um, you can get a "stoker crank" and run whatever compression you want. That just has to do with the heads, head gaskets, and piston shape (dome, notched, etc).

Look into 331/347 stroker kits if you want to spend the cash anyways.
