Torque Converters
hey guys and gals, anyone running a stalled converter in their stangs?? if so what is the stall rpm and what gears are you running in the rearend? i have 3.55 gears with an AOD trans. turning 1800 rpm @ 55 mph. my cam doesnt start making power till 2000 rpm. should i buy an 1800 stall or a 2200-2400 stall?? what name brand stall are you running ? i am looking at the TCI saturday night special or the 2200-2400. sat. night special is $292 and the other is $390 something. any info or opinions will be helpful. thanx.
P.S. this is a street car, not an all out dragster.

best advice is to call the transmission companies and ask their tech guys what they would recommend. they will need to know what mods, if any, you have done to the engine and the transmission plus the rear gears and some other information, so call TCI or Lentech Automatics or Art Carr Performance or B&M or ATI, etc, etc, etc
in my experiences, torque converters never seem to stall at what they are rated for, except maybe for real high stalls. i know if you have a stock motor with a 3000 stall torque converter and a motor thats been built, the motor thats been built is going to get that converter to stall at the rpm that it says it will a little easier. hope you understood that, had to read it myself to make sure i could! i'd say to get good performance out of a converter go with at least a 10" not a 11"
