Dunlop Sp sport 9000. Awesome tires, nice and soft for awesome cornering and one of the best rain tires out there. These are the successors to the SP sport 8000, which I have on my car, the best rain tire Ive ever owned, can go 120 in the rain with no problems. I havent had good luck with goodyears, the sidewalls seem flimsy, to me anyway, and I bang corners HARD. Ive had goodyear gatorbacks, and GSC's. Gatorbacks great dry tire suck for the rain. GSC's (corvette tires), felt unstable to me @ 120+. Put my dunlops on instablility issues went away.
-P.
PS: The BFG KDWS tires arent bad either, I havent had em on anything with lots of power, just my probe they seem to work great. read the reviews on them @ www.tirerack.com and people with higher HP RWD cars dont seem to have good luck with em.

I am strongly against the Nitto 555's, from everything ive heard and experienced they lose all their performance and start dry rotting after about a year. Mine almost dry rotted right off the rim. The 555R however is an awesome tire. I suggest the Kumho Ecsta MX, inexpensive tire and have heard nothing but good things about them.

Default RE: tire recommendations?

Anybody have any tire recommendations for street use? I'm looking for very good dry traction esp for hard cornering, good wet traction, decent tread life, and of course, something that looks good/agressive. I need 245/45 17's.
Do you want a drag radial or a cornering tire? Do you want the tire to favor dry performance or wet performance? How long do you need the tire to last? Are you going to race on them?

I have the nitto 555s, and mine are not dry rotted or anything like that. I've had them for about 15 or 20,000 miles, I think I paid around $600-650 for them with mounting, rotation and balancing for the life of the tires. no complaints here, they look decent and hold air well.

sounds good, maybe they upped the quality. 3 of my 4 leaked air, and the 3 people i know with them all had them dry rot on them after about a year, not to mention they didnt hold the road well at all on my friends '03 GT. All i know is i wont buy another set.
