Default Hard Top vs. Convertible?

Looking to buy a newer mustang (2000 to 2004).... Debating on getting a hard top or convertible. Anyone care to list some pro's and con's of each?

Thanks,

Kyle

Coupes are lighter, cheaper, & a bit better performance because of less body flex & the weight savings.

But,, verts are COOLER!!! [8D]

And they still perform just fine IMO.

coupes are stronger, and aboot 200 lbs lighter, the verts look better, and are alot more fun oh ya they come with sub frame connectors too

The only problem with verts is if you get serious with your mustang at the track they will require a cage. Other than that, Hauling butt around in a vert with the top down is pretty fun and chicks LOVE verts. The weight difference is negligible.

That is true, but it's not that bad, still better than an 05/06 with louvers on the side windows.

since only "real racers" like the above vin diesels care about the 200-300lb. difference and the handling difference is almost none, the only reason I see to not get a vert is possibility of leakage and maintenance costs for the top and it's moving parts. I didn't get one because I didn't want to add more maintenance costs to my car. maybe road noise is also an issue, but I dunno for sure.

i dont know about newer verts, but in my friends vert (which i think is like an 88 lebaron, which i dont believe is significant to this), is very cold in the winter. the car doesnt heat up as fast and doesnt hold the heat as well. i dont believe its an issue with his car either, it doesnt leak or anything.

oh, get a vert! theres nothing better than cruising around town on a summer night top down, chrome spinning. Road noise isnt any worse than a loud exhaust system on a coupe. But for strictly track, I would get a coupe. Any other driving, VERT!!
