Default RE: temp gauge pegging instantly

My first thought was the temp sending unit, only because one went bad on me like that. I drove home from work at lunch and the temp was fine. I went out to my car to go back to work and turned it on..."HOLY MOLY its pegged at hot." I looked under the car to see if I had any antifreeze leaking, lifted the hood, no boiling over nothing. "Crap, I dont wanna drive it." So i went in and had to call someone to come and get me 10 miles away. Was late getting back to work. Went to start it when I got home, still pegged. "How in the world could it still be overheated 5 hours later???" It couldnt, obviously. So i read through the Haynes manual and traced it to that. Replaced it, no problemo since.

Its always nice when the fix only costs you a few bucks. One of the true joys of an older car. Glad you got it figured out!

I know what you mean, Darrin. It's not too painful to learn those $10 lessons. It's those triple-digit screw-ups I'm hoping to avoid...
