Drone?
So the 40 series Flowmasters are bad for droning? I will probably only change my exhaust at the axleback point. Most people agree that the stock headers and h pipe flow well enough. I just want to change the sound of the stock GT. personally, I dont like the backfire/popping sound that some of the mufflers make when you let off the gas. That annoys me more than any drone ever could.
I was in my friends GT with Mac mufflers and i think the drone was worse than my flowmasters, its not that bad, im just picky. Plus I'd rather not hear as much car when im trying to enjoy cruising, but it really isnt that bad of a drone, its more just loud.
I disagree with the stock H pipe flowing well enough, since i put my stock H pipe back on (temporarily took off the prochamber) my top end has dropped right off the deep end, it struggles to pull to the top of 2nd and 3rd gear now. I'm putting my prochamber back on, sound or not

What are the pro's and con's of running without the Cats on the H pipe? I wish that I could get the same sound on my 06GT that I had on my 91GT with Flowmasters. I had the o/r h pipe and flowmasters on the 91 and I loved that sound!!!
well, cats make the catback quieter. Also if you live in an area that requires emissions, a pro to having cats is that you dont need to swap the H pipe every time. Because of the different engines, your 06 will never sound like your old 5.0, but they still sound really either way.
I understand that the 3v V8 will never produce the same sound as my 5.0 did. I was simply using that as an example of what I am trying to achieve. Hopefully, I can find something that is similar to the sound of my old 5.0
Every PM that I have received has said to leave the stock headers on because they flow very well. And that the stock h pipe does fine also, but changing it could add a few extra horses. Do they sell the prochamber with cats? And where is the cheapest place to get exhaust?

well, i appologize, i forgot you're talking about an '06. If u want a similar sound u could go with the same mufflers. Yeah the new GTs have 2.5" exhaust stock i believe, where as mine did not. For my year they dont offer a high flow prochamber, but I think for the other newer years they do. But to save some cash right now, until your engine is heavily modded, maybe u could just get away with the stock H pipe. I believe its stainless too, nice.
Thanks for the help Onyx. I didnt mean to sound snappy. Just trying to explain the best I could via forum posts. Again, thanks for the help! I will try the Flowmasters first and just go from there.
