only car I would ever buy with a junk or salvage title would be something I was gonna mod so heavily that it would have no resale value anyway.

I agree. That sounds like the original owner totalled the car and the wrecking yard merely repaired the damage. Only way to get a "junk" or "salvage" title would either be mixing of different cars' enignes/bodies/chassis or if the salvage yard in question lost or had to get a new title from the state. I had to go through the same trouble when I bought my '64 Caddilac DeVille. So for that clean 'Stang to have a junk title, they either replaced the engine or unibody due to a wreck or they lost the original. I would ask why the seller has a "junk" title on it. Carfax is cool, but they won't let me get a carfax report on my 'Stang. They said I have to pay them for it. I own my car. I don't think I should have to pay all that money to get info on the car I already own. Oh yeah, I bought my 1993 LX Notchback for $2,100.00 straight up. It was super clean with a brand new four wheel brake system and a brand new tranny for free and it had less than 50,000 miles on it. I wouldn't say 5 grand is good for a '92 with 99,000 miles though. Those run down here for around 2 to 3 grand for the good extra clean ones.

i never saw the carfax report but my friend said it was considered a junk title in 1992. i saw the price on carfax, i was like hell no i am not going to pay $20 just to see some dumb report on a car that i won't buy, i mean i could use that money on some gas or something useful. but ya i've been lookin around and theres some nice gts around where i live around the 2 and 3's that are pretty clean and stuff. i found a super nice 1988 gt with 80k miles on it for only 3k. the interior and paint looked like new. the title and everything was clean. it was the perfect car, but you gotta have money to get stuff and i am in the process of moving so you know that sucked. thats when carfax helped me lol.
