does anyone know how much TALLER a 351w FI is than a 302 FI is? i am in the process of dropping a 351w into my 68 model and it had stock a 302 carbed BUT the engine was missing when i got it so i cant measure it...... so help would be most helpful. THANKS

The basic engines are about 1.5" different. For fuel injected applications, the 351 will probably be quite a bit taller as they were primarily used in trucks.

The carb stack on a 302 would be 6-8 inches.

 

Yeah, deck height difference is ~1.5", but you will also need to consider the increase in width since taller+wider on a V8. You can use some upper intakes from 302's, but the lower will need to be specifically for a 351 as it is wider.....

 

so if i have a "factory hood scoop" it should fit under my hood with no real major mods? i am trying to appear all nice and stock you know till i blow some rice burner away....lol
