Your diagnosis please?
I appreciate all the help, guys. I have a few little problems with my stang (a '98 GT) and I was wondering if you could help me out a little with it. I plan on taking it in to have it looked at, but I'd like to have a general idea what I should and shouldn't expect to pay for.
Here they are:
a.) After shutoff, the car hisses...sounds like a pronounced drip onto something hot, maybe the block or intake manifold, yet when I open the hood and I can't see anything. Doesn't smell like coolant, yet when I'm parked on even the slightest hill, I get the low coolant light until I drive onto a flat road.
b.) Fuel gauge goes nucking futs. I'll look down and it'll say 1/2 tank. 2 minutes later it says 1/4 tank and I'm like wtf!? THen it'll go back to half and so forth. Is it just a float that needs to be replaced?
c.) I described in an earlier post. Suspension makes a weird hissing noise. I don't know enough to tell if it's a spring isolator rubbing or leaky shocks/struts. It's factory 98 equipment. Also, when I get on the brakes hard, you can hear either the struts or the springs (again, can't tell) compress.
Thanks again, guys!

a: most likely AC condensation dripping on your exhaust - its just water thats why you don't smell anything
b: I've heard alot lately about sulfer content in gasoline getting bad and causeing that very same problem, check into it
c: springs won't make a hissing sound, shocks could. springs could make a squeeking sound though. the easiest way to check shocks is to bounce the car on the corner of the shock you want to check - and see if it takes more than an up and down motion to level out. you can also have a friend do that while you listen to see if its making more noise than the rest of them.
Well this is what I can come up with, maybe try these out and if you still can't get it figured out someone else can help.
