I think I know what you'r talking about. I experience the same thing. I posted this a while back, cant find the exact post but this was the only response I got on it.

" its your idle air control valve.

when its jammed, it doesnt open and close properly, which creates that humming
noise you hear. if you turn your car on and pop the hood you can easily test it.
just go over to that little lever that you can push which revs your engine and give
your engine one long rev. it should start humming.

if it does just clean that out with a spray from kragens or whatever
is close to your house and let it sit for two minutes before you dispense the cleaner.
then let it dry completely and put the control valve back on. should work fine after that.
if that doesnt work buy a new valve for 50 bucks. good luck"

Hell yeah its hard not too, but it might be the seperation of the front tire, cause it it cracked all the way around on the edge but barely could that still be the prob? **** i hope its not my wheel bearing! lol are those hard to replace?

i dont know if those cars use hubs or just bearings.if its just bearing its easy, if its a hub its expensive and i wouldnt even worry about it.i would try some new front tires if they are cracked.you always want to run safe steering tires.

yeah that sounds exactly like a wheel bearing. I just replaced my fronts because of the same noise. It was about 60 bucks per side. THe hub and bearing come togeather in an assembly.

Sounds like tires...bearings don't really howl, it's more of a growling noise
