does anyone know about water gettin in the engine?
on friday i was driving after it stopped raining from tropical storm ernesto. but there was this huge *** puddle people were trying to get through. well traffic kept going and i saw it but i couldnt turn around or else i wouldve been hit from behind, but i went through the puddle and as i was going through my car completely shut off. well now i got it (as of saturday) to the point of where it will crank up but it will almost start up and everyone has been tellin me its a REAL good thing it does that otherwise id need a new engine. is this true or has anyone else had experience with water in an engine?

if you think you have water in the engine you shouldn't try cranking it over as you may cause engine damage. Remove the spark plugs and crank it by hand this should remove must the water.
Was it deep enough to sink the engine underwater? If so you should change your oil since there might be water down in the oil pan. Water and oil will gum up just about anything it comes in contact with, especially your oil pump and filter. If it will turn over thats good, enough water in the bores can cause them to rust and lock up your engine. You might also want to clean your TB since it probably sucked water through the air cleaner too.
Tow your car to a Dealer and call your insurance if you have had water entering your engine.Stop trying to start it.Your insurance may cover the damage.Hydrolock is not good.
i removed the plugs and tried to crank the water out but none came out. the water wasnt THAT deep, it maybe covered up half of my wheels up and thats about it. i would tow it to a dealer and call insurance except for the fact that i only have liability so that will not work.
oh and its the car in my sig.

clean the air filter and get a couple cases of cheap oil and a few oil filters. change the oil until it is not "milky" and then change it about 2 more times (obviously the last time use the oil you would normally use)
I also thought that I had sucked water into my engine at one time. I was in the same situation as you several years ago in San Antonio, Texas, i was forced into a low water crossing in my 95GT due to the flow of traffic (much deeper than what it sounds like you went through. Unless you have an after market ram air kit that intakes air low to the ground than you should not worry about sucking water into your engine that is only a few inches deep, unless you are going very fast for a long amount of time through the water, for me it was only about 25feet. ). All I can do is state the obvious, check all your fuses, relays, and sensors, the ones in the car and of course the ones under the hood. My problems were a blown fuse and a shorted out relay(I think it was the FP, but not sure). I have heard of things like this happening from washing your engine but I'm pretty sure that rarely happens. Listen to everyone else above about starting it. DO NOT keep turning the motor over if you think that there is water inside. I hope this helped you out, it took me a whole day to pinpoint my problems, good luck.
