Default 1996 GT anti theft light

Ok my dad is driving his 4.6 GT manual today and the car stops running and the Anti theft light now blinks when the car has the key in the ignition Acc. Start, or Rum positions

the car will turn over but not start like there is no ignigtion, or no fuel or something,

My experience with alarms I just know many of them are connected to the starter and not the ignigtion system. T

his car was previously owned has the Chip in Key kinda anti theft and the car didn't come with a Keyless Remote for unlocking or locking the doors or if it did come with it we do not have it.

You guys think the alarm is armed anyway to reset it, and yes we disconnected the battery for awhile and it does have aftermarket stuff (previous owner) Shift kit, stereo, amp, cap, K&N etc..

I have heard the mustang's anti thefe system does not like anyone to change it's stereo, but this car has aways had the stereo and as been fine the whole time we have owned it (1 year)

It very well could be that the chip has lost the code to run the car. I have heard of it happening before. I would bring it to a dealership and they should be able to reprogram the chip for a price of course. But that is exactly what it sounds like to me.

With a 1997 or older you can simply go to the locksmith and they can cut you a key with the ship in it for like $30. They have to train it which takes minutes!!!! No extra key is needed. That's what I did. I think they charge an extra $40 for home service! Any 1998 or newer has to go to the dealership and pay out the ***!!!LOL

i had this same problem in my gt. It's the PATS solenoid in the igntion (receiver in the ignition that reads the chip in your key). you can either take it to the dealer or if you know how check the connections from the PATS solenoid because on mine it was a short that i found on the connector of the solenoid and after fixing the short that problem went away.
