HCI Exhaust/gears and S/C
Hey guys I am about to buy a 1987-1990 mustang GT and I need some input, and details..
Some people gave me some tips and told me to install:
Dry Nitrous Kits w/ 100 or 150 shot
HCI Exhaust
HCI Gears
S/C
Okay, so I know what the dry nitrous kits are.
What I need is a description of what the HCI Exhaust and HCI Gears do, what S/C is, and how to install S/C into a 1987-1990 5.0 Mustang GT
Please no one post to this thread as your own opinion, I am looking for facts. Thank you.
All help is greatly appreciated
One more question: Would a 1987-1990 5.0 Mustang GT with these 4 installs burn a 1999 Mustang GT V8 4.6L ROHC?

RE: HCI Exhaust/gears and S/C
"HCI" refers to aftermarket Heads/Cam/Intake upgrades.
You should upgrade the exhaust when you do the HCI upgrades. Replacing the rear end gears along with the HCI isn't required, but the lower gears really help get you into your powerband quicker.
S/C is a supercharger. There are several different types and brands available for 5.0 Mustangs, so you should probably do a search and read up on what would fit your needs. Some give you power at high RPM, others give you lots of instant torque, so depends where you want your power.
My '83 with HCI, exhaust and only 3.27 gears runs high 12s at 109.3 (should be low 12s, but I keep breaking stuff), so it should whip most '99 Mustang GTs as long as thay aren't supercharged or using nitrous.

RE: HCI Exhaust/gears and S/C
With just the nitrous or S/C on an otherwise stock engine, you shouldn't have trouble beating a stock '99 GT.
BTW, I haven't had my '89 GT at the track, but it should be good for mid 11s with the H/C/I, S/C, gears, exhaust, etc. It has traction problems though, even with the BFG drag radials. It also has the stock fragile T-5 trans, so I'm afraid to beat on it too much and it'll never see the track. My '83s brand new T-5 broke at the track from only 300 rwhp.
