Hi everyone, i am new to the mustang scene. I just aquired an 88' 2.3 auto, and it just died while i was driving, and I cant get it started again. I am getting fuel, but no spark. I have read past forums and tried what i could find.

what I've done: replaced the coil, and the TFI module.

when I test for spark using a spark tester (in-line from coil to coil wire), nothing happens except when I stop turning over the motor I get one flash on the tester. Any ideas??? please help.....

The fact that your getting a spark when the ignition is shut off makes it look like the sensor itself is bad.I'm not familiar with what all's in there but if it works like other older electronic ignitions there should be a sensor with a toothed wheel or one with gaps cut in the circumference.If these are blocked by dirt or the pick-up is bad they won't spark.

Hi again everyone. Thank you for all of your help...I got it started. It sucks that I didnt check this first...lol...but I pulled out the distributer to get a better look at it. Spun it by hand and the tester went crazy, I put it back in and nothing. Yep you guessed it, timing belt. Right on, one more stang on the road.
