How did you determine that your
thermostat is working?

From overnite parking, start car
and let it warm up.
Watch temp gauge (5 minutes or more)
It should go up past normal and then
take a nose dive down and back to
normal.
If it stays up you got a shut thermostat.
You will always have heat in the car.

Not true, if there is no circulation, there will be no heat.

Kirko, can you be a lil more specific about what's going on?

My car was overheating a year ago and it was because the cooling liquid was expired. Maybe it could be related to that ?

If your thermostat is stuck in the closed position your heat will still work, it is your a/c that wont be working.

^ Yeah a lot of white smoke coming from the exhaust and water too when I start the car after it sits a long time.

Like I just got it and I was going to flush the radiator change the oil. change the antifreeze etc.

I went to flush the radiator. just turned the car on for the first time that day so the engine was cool. the water was at the top of the pipe where u open and it would stay like that until i gas it then it goes down but then it comes back up. it shouldnt do that or atleast i dont think so. my other cars didnt do that until the engine got hot.
when i turn my car on it gets hot then the fan isnt running. then my fan will quick in a little later and it will cool down but then the heat will go back up after im driving a couple/few miles.
