The engine will have to come out along with the tranny. Sounds like you've got a good project ahead of you. If the body work sounds too difficult, you may think about looking for a 95-older Stang body.

just get yourself a good ol fox body and transplant everything into it, motor,tranny,dash, everything. all will fit with some small mods. im going to be doing a dash and interior swap from a 94 and up on my 83 as soon as i get back from iraq next year.
