problems shifting into gear
a freind of mine has a 1996 saturn sw2 auto. They said that when its cold they can't shift it out of park, but when its warm its not really a problem. I've been thinking about it, and I really don't have an idea.
Does anyone else have any idea?

ha ha yeah, thats the main problem right there.
But what do you mean by an interlock problem? and do you really think tha could be caused just from bad tranny fluid?

RE: problems shifting into gear
The interlock is what requires you to push on the brake to take the car out of park. I would suspect that system to be the most likely culprit. Really bad fluid can cause a number of problems, even some sticking of the internal shift mechanisms.
Could also be a problem with the little button that you have to push to shift some autos.

RE: problems shifting into gear
Saturn = GM = my buddies chevy beterra blowing up, his dads buick regal spontaneously combusting last week (while parked and turned off may i add), and his new trailblazer stalling at lights, and headlights cutting out at their own will
my conclusion GM=trouble
