I got a funny story about this:

I work at a gas station that is seriously no more than 2 blocks from my house. the highest speed limit is 20 mph. and we had rain one day that froze that night, and then a layer of snow on top of that. yeah. totally uncool. so I'm drivin' along. I go to make a left turn, and boom. I'm sliding sideways down the street. it ended up in me hopping an 8' curb into an empty lot, and a loud noise. somehow, my car was perfectly fine. I was positive I'd need an alignment, but not even that. the man upstairs was watching out for me, then. moral of the story: don't dick around on snow and ice when you got your licence 7 months ago. (also, I have ABS and non-posi traction (not sure what you'd call it))

Whether or not you have a limted slip differential, you gotta remember the REAL important thing is your TIRES!! If you live in a part of the country that gets real serious snow in winter then you need snow tires, not just all-season tires. The worlds best differential won't mean squat if you have balding all-season tires on your car[:@] hell even an all wheel drive Subaru would suck with balding summer tires on it.

I really wish they would allow studded tires here but they don't. Studded tires would help a LOT for traction, moreso on ice than on snow, but every bit helps
