Default ECU swap... No start

'98 Mustang V6. I replaced the computer to try to troubleshoot an intermittent problem. Now the car won't start. Is this just part of the theft deterrent? Can I have the dealer fix my replacement ECU?The warning lights and gaugesseem to function like before, except now theengineturns overwithout ever really trying to fire. The car will start with original ECU reinstalled.

TIA

ECU codes should probably be the same to get the car to start. They measure operatingparameters differently but it could be the theft system causing your problem.

It could be the PATS switch on the ECU. Usually if you swap ECUs you will need to dissable the PATS theft thing in the tune.

I had the dealer do it. They needed the car and the replacement ECU... I guess it would have been a good time to invest in a tuner.
