Default PIng

My car has been pining really bad between 1000 and 2000rpms. I have an SCT Flash tuner which was used to tune the car. how should the timing be adjusted to get rid of the ping.

Reduce the amount of timing advance to eliminate "ping".

The flash tuner should have 3 RPM ranges for setting your timing. Simply retard your timing 2 degrees at a time, in the lowest range setting, until it stops pinging.

& do it quickly. Ping will kill an engine in no time! Sometimes eccessive carbon deposits in the combustion chamber can also lead to ping in an engine that otherwise would work ok. The carbon deposits can form a hotspot that can pre-detonate the fuel air mixture.
