Default Cross drilled rotors

what do you guys think about cross drilled rotors, i was hoping to get some off ebay for pretty cheap. although i heard that cross drilled rotors often get pressure cracks from where they drilled the holes, especially if they are not CNC drilled. Has anyone had a problem with them or know anything on this topic. Thanks

I can tell you that I have been running cross-drilled and slotted rotors on my 93 for about 60,000 miles with no problems whatsoever and that they really improved the braking over the stockers. I can also tell you that I've had cross-drilled rotors on my wife's 96 Cobra, both front and rear, for about 20,000 miles, also with no issues. I got the ones for my 93 through a friend that owns a NAPA store and the set on the Cobra are Powerslot.

I have heard with cheaper brands that cross drilled can crack between the holes but if you shop somewhere like Napa that has a name behind them or other name brands then you should have no problem at all.

Best of luck.

I'd be cautious about buying "cheap brakes" no matter if they're cross drilled slotted or even normal ones

Agreed - cheap is not the way to go on brakes...

BUT you can get some great deals on eBay for name brand stuff from reputable sellers...

If your going to be using these "cross drilled" rotors for anything but casual street driving I would suggest not getting them. Because the Mustangs rotors are Iron, the holes create a weak structure under heat and will cause the rotor to actually warp and CRACK!. Slotted rotors are the way to go! The bigger problem with cross drilled rotors are these ebay rotors, there is a science into drilled the holes, they are sometimes drilled TOO big and can cause even more loss in its structure.

I've had the slotted rotors and they are a lot better for street driving. The cross drilled look better but unless you're going to be on a road course or something they will not perform like they are designed to. Do a Google search for some slotted rotors and see what you find. I'm certain you will be much happier with the results.
