well, im hoping it isn't the age that made it so thick. b/c that doesn't sound very good. if i do another oil change, do i still have to change the filter? and what oil should i use? i did the oil change on monday.
You should change your filter everytime you change your oil.

Due to closer tolerances and the fact that the 4.6 engine is an overhead cam design I would stick with the lighter 5w20 oil with no additives. The lighter oil allows pressure to build quicker and therefore lube the cam lobes, followers, and lifters sooner than a heavier oil.
The thickening agent you dumped in will only increase the viscosity of the oil, making the problem worse. Here's a link you might want to look at.

Good site^^^. They will tell you not to use any additives because if they were necessary the oil mfgs would already have added it to their package. Also the thick stuff such as STP, Motor Honey etc. have been known to plug the oil pickup in the pan causing bad things to happen to the motor. The folks on the above site actually send their used oil out to a lab to be analyzed.

i changed the filter along with the oil. what i meant was should i change it again since i added the STP additive? or should i just drain out the fairly new oil(with additive) and replace it with new oil?
