Default Gas Gauge is jumping

Hi, I own a 1964 and 1\2 mustang. My prob. is that my gas gauge is just jumping around and is never accurate. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thanks

Default RE: Gas Gauge is jumping

Bad grounds and bad senders are the place to look.Take the sender out of the tank and hook an ohmmeter to the leads.Turn it on and move the arm,if the needle (an analouge meter works best for this) doesn't move smoothly you have your culprit.
