Hey JD, so you like the new gears? Big difference in low end power? I was told that 4.10's would drop my milage in half, is that true? I know i shouldnt really be caring about gas milage that much in a stang but the way gas prices are heading........

Well I have only had them for about 4 days so I have yet to really tell about milage. But just the driving I have done I dont think it has used any more than before. I keep my foot in the gas anyways. LOL

I got 21 mpg highway with 4.10's, cams, etc. on the way to get the car tuned

your mpg will probably increase around town by 1-2, and decrease on the highway by 1-2

You will absolutely love either. Personally Im for 4.10's, but 4.30's are a great gear too. The only reason I didn't go with 4.30's is because 4.10's is more than enough to overpower the tires even with drag radials. 4.10's on the highway @ 70 are gonna put you at 2400 rpm's.. 4.30's about 2500 - not much difference.. gas mileage around town will probably get better but will def get worse on the highway by a couple mpg.

Picture this: A met a good friend here a few months ago, he lived in Valdosta and asked about my gears. He saw I had 4.10's and he wanted to get 3.73's because he thought 4.10's would be too much - but everyone kept saying 4.10's! So I told him to stop by my place and I'll let him drive my car and feel the 4.10's (he let me drive his to feel his Pro5.0). Needless to say... after he drove my car - he decided to get 4.30's and I got an aftermarket shifter!
I know I'll be staying N/A so I'm going with 4.30. Like Joe said the difference is minimal....However you really can't go wrong with either. Im having the 4.30 installed Saturday, so I'll get back with you and let you know what I think.

something u need to look at is top speed. i know u said u where go to be n/a but a 430 gear would only give u a top speed 110mph with a 26 in tall tire@6112 rpms ,a 373 would give u 130@6266,355 would be 130 @5964 rpms. i would not go any higher than 410s on a street car that get driven 50% of the time.

where you get those #'s from? 4th ear w/ 25.7" tire w/ 4.10's @ 6050 rev limiter = about 115 ... 4.30's probably around 112 - them sound like 5.0 #'s

Top speed in 5th gear in an 02+ with 4.10's is 168 at 6050

4.10's on a 99+ GT isn't anything... 70mph = 2400 rpms... I wouldnt call that drastic, 2500 rpms for 4.30's

If I was to put 4.10's on my stang rather than the 3.73's I WAS planning on installing, what kinda top end/mpg numbers am I gonna be looking at, remember I'm an Auto here!
