Default 4.30 gears

Anyone here running 4.30 gears? So far what i gathered a gear swap should be one of the 1st mods to do. I was thinking 4.10 or 4.30. I drive on the highway about half of my time. Will my gas milage go way down? It is my DD. If there isnt much difference in milage drop between the 2 gears i may go 4.30's. And since i cant afford it my engine will be N/A.

Good move or bad move on the 4.30's?

You will absolutely love either. Personally Im for 4.10's, but 4.30's are a great gear too. The only reason I didn't go with 4.30's is because 4.10's is more than enough to overpower the tires even with drag radials. 4.10's on the highway @ 70 are gonna put you at 2400 rpm's.. 4.30's about 2500 - not much difference.. gas mileage around town will probably get better but will def get worse on the highway by a couple mpg.

Picture this: A met a good friend here a few months ago, he lived in Valdosta and asked about my gears. He saw I had 4.10's and he wanted to get 3.73's because he thought 4.10's would be too much - but everyone kept saying 4.10's! So I told him to stop by my place and I'll let him drive my car and feel the 4.10's (he let me drive his to feel his Pro5.0). Needless to say... after he drove my car - he decided to get 4.30's and I got an aftermarket shifter!

4.30's will have you buzzing pretty high. I got 4.10's and when I cruise the highway its anywhere from 2500 to 3000 rpms at highway speeds.

I love my 4.30's. Haven't driven anything with 4.10's but I would imagine MD and JD know what they're talking about. I'm thinking that with the GT power that you'll need the 4.30's. All the extra power off the line will make the difference. 4.30's are at the breaking point with my 99 cobra. Especially when I start adding more and more bolt ons.

Overall=4.30

I definitely had to re-learn on how to drive my car though from the stock gears to 4.30's. They made just a huge difference. Of course I pulled up to an 01 Cobra as soon as I pulled out of the shop with them on. I was all over the road. Shifting to second was amazing. I got squirrley in second and ripped them in third. I pretty muched crapped my pants when I first got them. But now it's all good. But I did get stuck in the snow last night [&o]

yea theres quite a bit of snow up norht here too. Im still not quite decided on which gear. But im running stock 3.27's and it doesnt seem like a big step to go to 3.73's. i think i will go 4.10's min and 4.30's max.

Ok anyone here running either gear, out of a tank of gas, how many miles you get out of a tank compared to before. I know it all depends..... but on average.

I was told my gas milage would split in half with 4.30's, is this true or even close to true? My car is stock (except magnapack) and i get approx 400km to a tank. I live in Canada so i guess thats equal to ....... miles.

no, probably won't even be able to tell the difference either. can barely notice 3.73's, let alone 3.55's

Speaking of sound, the 4.10's puts me at 2000 rpms in 4th gear and it sounds GREAT when I cruise. 4.10's are the way to go!!!
