4.30 gears
do this to figure it out. with your existing gears, in final gear, drive at 70 mph and make note of the engine rpms.
then the new rpm will be the existing rpm x (new gear ratio)/existing gear ratio). plug in the numbers and solve the math.
example: 2,000 rpm at 70 mph with 2.73 gears, want to change to 3.73 gears
(2,000 x (3.73)/2.73) = 2,732 rpm with new 3.73 gears @ 70 mph
in Canada with all the snow, I wouldn't go lower than 4.10 gears unless you're good at starting off in second gear on snow and ice, you'll have way too much torque to get any traction at all on slick roads in first gear, especially with 4.30 gears.

OK, that helps, 1 more question... 4.10's or 3.73's whihc one is gonna be better? Better performance, better for everyday driving, etc....

4.10's are really the only way to go in a 4.6
Our transmissions are geared differently, our trannies were geared with extra gas mileage in mind, whereas the Fox Bodies weren't.
Also remember our cars put on a couple pounds after the Fox Body era, so if your going to spend the money on gears you should really do what's best and go 4.10 or 4.30's and not even consider a taller gear like 3.73's or 3.55's.

Well, after reading all those posts on the rear end gears I am going to get 4.10's. I have a 2004 GT 5sp with a flowmaster am thunder cat back and I want this car to just scream off the line. I wont be hitting the strip anytime soon, but I like to beat up on unsuspecting various cars around my neighborhood. I am going to be getting deeper into engine mods after the gears. So which gear to buy?? Richmond, Ford Racing? Oh, and if I get ford racing gears, do they not void the warantee??
