Default I had an idea!

i have an '03 GT and i was wondering if i took the insert out of the hood scoop, would it force air down on the motor which would take all the hot air off the motor and force it down under the car and the air flowing underneath the car would take it out and away from the engine compartment? Can it or has it been done?

just a thought.

yeh me and my friends we thinking about doin that to my 02GT only had 2 concerns 1 was when it rains and what not you getting water, dirt, and leaves all in your engine conpartment if you leaves the grill in (which actually has holes I believe from looks at the after market version) you might be able to cut this down. My second concern was it's kinda cheesy and not held on there all that well I dunno it if can withstand say 130mph winds being forced uner it (dunno how it's held on but I know I can slip paper under it in spots) but I still might try in eventually just for ***** and giggles so I can say it has a function

and yes you who have to cut a whole in the hood and liner!

Probably not even 2 hp. A removed hood scoop insert will only cause you problems, and it definitely wont cool off the block that much. If you REALLY want a functional ram air, get the mach 1 ram air conversion kit ($700) or have your hood done professionally.

you'd have to remove the front honeycomb and cut a hole in your hood under the scoop, but - at high speeds I'd suspect their would be a chance that hood scoop would get ripped off your hood though

Take your hood off and drive around. If you see a big difference then get a conversion kit or slap a cowl on there.

The engine in my father's '68 gets really dirty everytime it rains, because his scoop was made "functional". I doubt you want to deal with that.
