Default synthetic oil question

i just got my new 01 mustang with the 3.8 its got 120k miles on it, and i dont know what the previous owner used oil wise, im going to change the oil for good measure, is 120k miles too much to switch to synthetic? if not should i break it in with a mixture of synthetic and regular then go synthetic after that change? thoughts? opinions? discuss amongst yourselves. thanks for any help in advance.

If the engine is fine now, switching to a good synthetic (Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc.)is still a good thing. If the engine is leaking or burns oil, keep with the cheap crap.

Don't believe the myth that synthetics with higher mileage engines is a bad thing.

Yeah it came out of the factory with mobile1 5w20 in it for a 3.8 liter so id stay with what it calls for because now adays the bearing talerences are alot tighter then they used to be so your gonna need a thinner oil but at the same time you need the protection. i recomend either Amsiol (because im a amsiol dealer) or mobile 1.
do not put royal purple in any of your vehicles. I am not a beliver in royal purple. for one it has graphite in it. and 2 they say it polishes your bearings. think about that one. you really want your bearings polished. not me i want them protected not looking good lol.

I have always heard it is ok to switch from regular oil to a sythetic, but not ok to switch the other way. I dont know for sure and have seen no research for this claim. However, I run Mobil 1 synthetic in mine.
