Default General motor question

I'm building a motor my self and I will be getting it soon but it wont be done for a long period of time of course it all depends on the green stuff ($). If I leave the motor on the stand in my garage will it build up rust on the cylinder walls if it does what should I do and what can I do so maybe that wont happen at all. I live on long island ny and its a very humid place (where on a island).. So im just curious on what to do. It coming back to me already bored .030 over so I don't feel like re boring it just to get the rust off if you ask me. Well thanks for your time hopefully someone has some pointers on this subject.

Is it coming as a complete motor? If its not assembled you can just put a light coat of motor oil in the cylinder bores. I do it by soaking a shop rag with oil and wiping down the bores. It doesnt take much, just enough for an even coat. If the pistons are installed, just rotate the crank until a piston is down then oil that bore. Repeat this until you get all the bores. Check everything aboutonceaweek and you should be fine.

I built my motor over a 1 1/2 year period, I tool some old towels and lightly sprayed them with pam (cooking oil) of all things, repeated it about once a month and never got any rust or damage from it, works great and it's pretty cheap.
