Default SPARK PLUG WASHERS/GASKETS

Hello guys.
My first post, and I hope this question is new. ( ' spent hours pouring over the forums.)

I just bought a 1967 Mustang. 289, 4-speed, mild cam enhancement, Holley 600, Mallory distrib, etc.
When I removed the spark plugs...
There is no compression washer/gasket between the head and plug. Is that ok?
The spark plugs are not flat where they seat to the head, they are beveled. Does that make a difference?
I'm going to buy new spark plugs and wires as soon as I get this issue resolved (tomorrow?).
Any suggestions? Oh, I also have a overheating problem (that will be the next project). I just thru that info in for anyone to consider if you have a spark plug suggestion for me.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
glad to be here.

-Mark

Thats right for the early heads. A set of stock autolite replacements would be fine. As for the overheating, do you have the fan shroud on it? Might just be that the radiator is plugged...

Hey guy. Thank you so much for your help.

(I am new to MF; still leaky on proper procedure. Please pardon my missteps.)
But Man, it is just really kool to have a resource like Mustang Forums around! KUDOS to all you folks that contribute to this Forum!

Ok, Gary. I feel better now. About the spark plug washer issue.... Now, are you saying I do not need those compressable washers that I've always seen in a spark plug box? Is it ok that my engine does not have them? You see, I ain't done this in a long time. And it just suprised me to see there was no spark plug washer.

The early heads dont use them with the taper fit.
