Vandalized
My friend just called me and said that when he got home from work, he noticed that is 06 mustang was spray painted. The pinstripes were yellow instead of white, and he had yellow spray paint everywhere (on the doors, the roof, both bumpers) and his paint is completely ruined. The only thing they didnt paint was the glass, tail lights and headlights and grill. It was parked in his driveway while he was away at work.
Now here is our question: He has full coverage on his car (excluding glass coverage which doesnt really apply anywho) and a $2000 deductable. Would insurance cover a new paintjob for him? Or would he have to pay $2000 to help cover it? The reason I ask here instead of just calling the insurance company is because they are closed right now and he's freaking out (can't really blame em) and wants to know ASAP.
Thanks guys.

RE: Vandalized
He will have to pay the dedutible. However, if it was just spray paint a good detail shop might be able to get it off. You can actually wipe the car with laquer thinner as long as you wash it off really well right away. Or he might be able to get it buffed off. Spray paint has a hard time sticking to real auto paint, esp. if the car has been waxed and taken care of.

Wonder why they didnt paint the glass and the other hard to clean places. I wouldve. Nobody elses car was sprayed? If not than your friend made somebody very angry. Or a friend has a sick sense of humor.
Tell him to take a few pics and show his other friends and check thier reaction. They may know something. Cruel, but you never know.
Said it once and ill say it again but its still odd the only parts sprayed were the body panels.

RE: Vandalized
He should defenitely try and get it off before deciding to get it all painted. I've used a product called "ooops" (comes in a spray can) to get paint off of glass before, might also work on paint. worse case scenario, get it wet sanded with a very fine sand paper, and then wax over it. I've seen shows were they wet sand perfectly fine factory paint in order to get the "orange peel" effect off of the factory paint job, and the cars look amazing after the process.
or... he could change his insurance plan before he calls it in to something with a lower deductible

RE: Vandalized
He might not have to pay the deductable. When my car was vandalized from a guy I fired, my
insurance paid 100%. I guess I had vandalism coverage. Just call the insurance company
and ask. My car was keys down both sides. I was furious. I only have the car less than
6 months. Good luck.
