Default How Much Would You Pay for 18HP and 22lbs of torque.

Hey fellow mustang enthuiast. I have a stock 02 mustang GT (Auto) w/flowmaster cat-back exhaust (40 series I think) I just had it dyno-tuned and a BBK cold-air intake installed. I purchased the intake at CJs Pony Parts for @ $180.00. The dyno-tune cost $500. Here are some dyno #s
Baseline before intake 203HP
? Torque
After intake208 HP
232 Torque
Intake+Tune 218HP
254 Torque
I am new to the world of tuning but not owning mustangs, I also have an 89 5.0 thats getting redone. But as for the 02 GT. For the work and costs what ya think? Nice gains for the price? It was a little humid here in PA so I am guessing weather may have had an effect on HP?

you could have done better. your mods didnt need a dyno tune. dyno tune = waste.

Some thing to keep in mind are that basic maintience can have effect on power, igintion , fuel filter, etc. Make sure those components are working as best they can. The from the mods, the gainseems resonable, the car really seemed to like the tune. Torque+. I wonder if installing air flow mods and then dynoing them w/o drive time results in a lower gain that possible. The ECU has no time to fine tune anything, but I guess the dyno tune would fix any of that.

In the July issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords their test 03 GT, 5speed put down 214HP and 242TQ stock. After mufflers, CAI, T.B/Plenum, UDP's, and Diaoblosport tune it put down 243HP and 271TQ.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I believe the stang needs a new fuel filter and before the cold air intake was installed, the air filter was pretty ratty. New fuel filter and oil change this weekend.

i think for intake and cat back you didnt really need a dyno tune. also, you didnt really even need to get the CAI installed its pretty easy.

not really a waste, all your bolts wont really add any power if you dont get it retuned, hell even a bone stock GT will probly pick up 20-25 more hp with just a good dyno tune - nothing else the only reason its called a "waste" is because it costs 500 bucks, and it is a "waste" if you get it tuned and then add some more parts... but i learned the hard way that no cats and long tubes dont really do crap for you - maybe even lost a little power until you get it dyno tuned...

Did the tune cause you to have to run 93 octane gas or can you still run 87?

i wouldn't do any more dyno tunes until your ready for f/i. if you absoluty need more tuning, get an SCT tuner. so much can be done with that. i have only done tuning with my tuner and my mods gave me 258rwhp and 283rwtq.
