Wheel Weight
Does taking weight off the driveline or wheels make more of a difference than taking the same omount off of the car in general?
( As far as track times go)
I want facts, not opinions. I would love to hear from someone who has proven or tested this firsthand.
Thanks, Michael

Yeah, it's called "unsprung" weight because it's anything that's not supported by the suspension. Wheels, tires, brakes, etc. You probably won't notice a huge difference unless wheels you have now are really heavy. Like nitrous_bob stated, less rotating mass. It takes less energy to rotate lighter wheels, so in essence, you get a little more power to the ground, a little quicker. Plus any less weight on the car is always an improvement. Will it knock off a ton of time in the 1/4? Probably not, but every little bit helps there. And it probably won't be extremely noticeable in a daily driver. On my old car, I upgraded the wheels and shaved off 10 lbs per wheel, and a couple more lbs. on the rubber. She felt a bit more spirited and nimble, but that could have been more placebo than performance. But hey, who needs an excuse to upgrade wheels? :P Might as well go for lighter ones!
