Default 5.0 timing question

if the timing is high will it take away from the horsepower or make it slower?

yes if the timing is too far advanced your engine will start to detonate and not only will you loose power but if it gets bad enough you can actually burn a hole right through your piston

Thanks! I did a complete tuneup including distributor and it runs great but feels like it is not as strong. I will reset it.
