Default RE: Mustang Questions

I'm pretty sure I want an 04gt, or the chance that I find a mach1 that I like i'd go for it. How much can the stock gt engine handle? I'm looking at a procharger kit later down the road but want to know when I should expect to upgrade the internals, is 400hp too much to ask from a stock internals gt?

The Bullitt Mustang is a specialty mustang, modeled after the 67 GT that Steve McQueen drove in the movie Bullitt. It might be my choice here, if you're not going to do anything that is permanent to the car - it is a fairly rare car, and as such, will retain more of its value over the years, if taken care of properly.

Oh, and you'd want to get a green one, since that's the color of the original movie car

94-95 mustang gt - Had the 5.0L->225hp. 2v
96-98 mustang gt - Had the 4.6L->225hp. 2v
99-04 mustang gt - Had the 4.6L->260hp. 2v
94-95 mustang cobra- Had the 5.0L->240 hp. 2v
96-98 mustang cobra- Had the 4.6L->305 hp. 4v
99-02 mustang cobra- Had the 4.6L->320 hp?...maybe also 305.. 4v
03-04 mustang cobra(terminator) - Had the 4.6L->420 hp..rated at 390...underrated. Mostly the supercharged version of the mach 1 engine. 4v
03-04 mustang mach1- Had the 4.6 L->305 hp. 4v

BULLITT Mustangs- Had the 4.6L->265 hp...not worth the money,IMO.5 hp...whoopideedo.
Let me know if I'm wrong.. 2v

obviously 4v is better. more power for the money.

I heard give or take 400 hp....anything over is asking too much.

I would go 350 just to be on the safe side, if I owned one.

However, if you want cheap power, go with a 5.0 or mach 1/cobra 4v

about 400 to the wheels, then you need to start replacing the insides if you wanna go any further, so like 10psi on a s/c or 5-6psi on a turbo depending on how you do it.

You're right - it WAS a 1968 GT, but it didn't have a 289, it had a 390
