Default LX 5.0 Starting Issue?

I am having the problems with my 92 LX 5.0... Every few start upattemts or so, I will turn the key and nothing will happen, only the dummy lights in the gauge cluster will come on? The batteryand the solinoidare OK. I have been using a wire to jump from my solenoid to my battery's positive terminal to start the car. I used a test light when the problem occurred and there was no current coming from the starter switch to the solinoid. I changed the starter switch and the problem still happens? My last stab is that I have a shorted wire between the starter switch and the solinoid?

What do you all think is the issue here?

Thanks.

by shorting the solenoid your basically just creating a ground so check all your grounds first it could be something that simple as a loose ground.

could be ignition switch, i just had to change mine because it wouldnt start, the clock and radio worked fine... When i changed it stuff like my windsheild wipers and random stuff worked again... its a cheap and easy fix... might want to try only $10.00 at your local parts place.

I changed the ignition switch (located on the steering column) already and still have the same problem ???[:@] The trigger wire from the ignition switch to the solenoid does NOT flow current (checked with a test light) when I have the starting problems?

Have you tried jumping from the ignition switch directly to the starter relay with a jumper wire?

You should hear a click at the relay (or the car should start)

Let us know peace

If the relay is clicking you can assume the ignition switch and clutch switch are good.
