GT fog lights
Hi everyone I am new to the group. I have a 94 GT and have been plagued by water getting into the fog lights and ruining the bulbs. The original Ford lights pretty much self destructed due to this problem since dirt and such was getting in as well. The lenses had become clouded due to pitting so I decided to replace them with an aftermarket set that are duplicate replicas of the originals from www.partstrain.com. I was excited to get my fog lights back and they work great. I installed them last weekend and I already noticed condensation on the inside of the lens on one of the lights. I have gone through a few small puddle but for the most part I try to avoid it when I can because of the problem that I had with these lights before. What gives with these things? The rubber seal on the bulb fits tight....I can't imagine it leaking. The only other source would be where the lens mates with the black plastic body.
Has any one else had this problem and/or found a solution?
I'll be offline for a while but I'll check back.
Thanks,
Dave

I"ve had the same prob with after market lights. You have to silicone any and every seam you see. Do not silicone the bulb socket in though, it will carode any metal inside the light with the fumes as it drys, but it's fine on the outside of the light.
Another great trick I have used. If you get water spots inside the lens, just take the whole thing out and pour vinigar in the inside and shake it around for a few minutes, then rinse it out with water really good and let it dry 100% before reinstalling. You can use a blow dryer to speed up the drying. Works like a charm. [sm=smiley20.gif]

Thanks HotRods_n_Booze. I removed the lights and submerged them up to the bulb socket and sure enough I saw water coming in between the clear lens and the black plastic body. I'll give 'em another soak test and I should be ok.
