Today I had my boyfriend put oil in my car while I was at work. He put in way too much but he thought it needed 6quarts because it burns oil really bad and it just kept taking it he said. Well I was driving it home it started knocking and it was smoking really bad. So I called my dad and he told me to pull over asap. So I drove less than a mile and as soon as he told me to pull over it stopped making all noises. It sounded normal. It was still smoking real bad though. So my dad got there and had me drive it home so I did it was 2miles at the most. It was still smoking really bad. The whole way home still no noise. My dad said it's shot. That it could be the pistons, or lifters, or rods, or valves or anything. Still smokes real bad and it's not a black smoke it's the like white/blue smoke. HELP!!! I run 93octane in it and nonsynthetic oil.

 

How much oil does it actually require?

 

Drain the oil and put in the propper amount. Go from there. The extra oil is getting into places it shouldn't under normal conditions and causing the smoke.

 

When you say he added oil be "it just kept taking it".
You mean he was not checking the dipstick as he was
filling it?
He may have added way more than normal.

Before you panic, just do as told and drain
all the oil and start from scratch.
Check the cooling system also.

Then run it around town for a few miles.

Then get a new boyfriend or send him to mechanics school.

 

All better! Got all the oil drained...7quarts later. I put 4new quarts in it and it's much better. No smoke, no knocking, no nothing. Thanks guys!
