4th to seconds are fun. be rolling around 40 drop it into 2nd and hold on and then shift real quick into 3rd. but its not good for the tranny or tires

 

Yeah it sounds cool to downshift when pulling up to a light,but which is the cheapest and easiest to replace,brakes,or a clutch?

 

The opinions on downshifting versus not downshifting have NOTHING to do with this thread.

Jcoe is grinding while downshifting and this is the question. Whether it's detrimental to the trans or not, it should not grind going from 3rd to 2nd.

Try backing off the postive stop in the shifter mechanism.
Report back on your results.

 

His issue was gear braking... downshifting while rev matching is perfectly ok...

some people will tell you that rev matching is not necessary - they are wrong, you will damage your snychros by not rev matching... especially that infamous 4th to 2nd drop
