Default RE: Insurance Question

I don't know how it is by you but in new york you don't need insurance until you got a full license(18 in ny or 17 with drivers ed) so with that said i just got mine like 3 months ago and for about 2 months I pay the difference of what my parents had before and now. So the bill went up $120 a month. So thats how much I pay. Which isn't bad for driving a mustang and being 17. But that 120 includes myself and it moves up all my coverage to like 500,000 instead of 300,000. But the one bad about the company im at is if I get one (1) speeding ticket they cancel me and my family.. So its pretty tough.. I can get regular tickets like parking and loud exhaust but no speeding or i get shut down. Also that price is with drivers ed discount and good grades and defensive driving discount.

Every month I pay $153.28 on a '95 Mustang V6 .. It is PLPD insurance (no collision). That works out to $1840 a year with driver training. I'm in Canada so it would vary quite a bit. PLPD here works out to be the same across any vehicle you want to insurance.. so mine is the same as if I had a Ranger, a Civic, etc. However, I do carry some comprehensive to cover glass, vandalism, etc. which increases it a small amount.

I also suggest to get probably a mid to late 90's stang and it will keep your insurance down.

I would rather getting a H3 than a older Stang..Not because I don't think that all Stangs are pretty, but this car is going to last me throughout college...and I really need to get a newer car. And with my parents paying for it..might as well make it a good one!

i've dicked around with mustangs since i could sit on my dads lap and see over the steering wheel in the 67 gt vert(one day it will be mine I HOPE) and im getting a 95 gt in a few weeks, but now i drive what used to be my moms 02 jeep wrangler with a four cylinder, as far as i know her insurance didnt go up any when i got my license about 2 months ago but i havnt got a ticket yet. have one of your parents register the car under their name and insure the oldest car your family owns as their main vehicle, then add on any cars you have after that, this will cut down on the costs as well, i know this is my first post and im probably gonna get bitched at by someone, but just because this is my first post doesnt mean im a complete moron.

Well, the price will vary on where you live, and how well your parents have driven in the past, unless you're getting your own insurance plan. The best thing to do is call up your parents insurance company and see how much it would be-- most of the time they'll tell you over the phone what the cost would be and the sort.

I didnt have a mustang when I was 16 but I did have a nova, of course had the big motor and everything and I paid for just liabilty and it was less than 100 a month on my own policy. thats been about 10 yrs ago. The nova prolly doesnt fall into the same category as the stang though
