Default Shifting problem

Hi, I just bought my first Mustang. It's a 2000 Gt and I love it! The only problem I'm having is with my transmission. When the car is at a dead stop I sometimes have problems putting the shifter in any gear. I have to push the shifter pretty hard to get it in and when I take off (in 1st or Reverse) the car jerks until about 2K RPM.

It doesnt allways do this but it happens fairly often. If the car is rolling even a little bit, I have no problems. it's only when the car is completely stopped. What could be causing this? The clutch is really strong, it doesnt slip at all. No gears grind or anything like that. Anybody know what might be causing this?

I'll check the linkage. As for the clutch, the pedal is stiff but I've never felt another clutch pedal on a Mustang so I cant be sure if the stiffness is more than it should be. Any other way I can test the clutch without taking off the tranny?

Shifter may be worn, clutch forks may be bent, seems to be clutch related if it affects all your shift points. Is the clutch pedal hitting the floor mats impeding it's full range of travel.I don't know if it is a hydraulic clutch or not.If it is it may be low on fluid...How many miles on the cluth?Does it slip?My .02...
