Default Valve tap

Changed plugs and wires. Started car, loud valve tap. Checked the plugs and wires. Two plugs a little loose. All wires are in the correct spot. Started car, no valve tap for about 10 seconds, then started tapping again. Will check the gapping for the plugs for the 4th time tomorrow. Any other suggestions? Please help.

I doubt you did anything to the valves with a plug/wire change. Likely just a plug issue. Make sure you tighten them to spec based on what the engine calls out. For the older 289's and similar iron headed engines, the spec is about 15lb-ft or so. Double check this with a manual, though.
