so your telling me that i can either get the manual transmission and be happy or but the automatic, then put hundreds of dollars into the transmission just to make it as good as the manual? i know that those handheld tuners run $300-400 a pop and thats still not counting the other parts you listed.

obvious choice to me...

Again, this thread is really stupid. In a bone stock car, with a few exceptions, the Stick will be faster. When the car is modded to hell, and running 11's, 10's, 9's and so on, the auto is the better and faster choice.

A few cars come from the factory with better gearing in the automatic. F-Bodies, and GTO's for instance have a much lower gear ratio in the automatic. They tend to 60 ft better and et about a 10th faster then their T-56 counterparts.

Can we drop this now?

Well, I don't blame auto-tranny guys for defending their preference yes autosare easier to live with because you can just stick it in D and forgetaboutit. Nuff said that sticks are faster&funner once I turn 80 I'll probably get an auto too
